We are looking for a Geotechnical Specialist - Transmission Line Foundations to join our Easter Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI) team. Reporting to the Project Director, ECEI, this role is vital in ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of energy infrastructure, contributing to the safe and efficient production and distribution of power.
Note: This position will be working in the field with the construction contractors.
Key elements of this role include::As a Geotechnical Specialist - Transmission Line Foundations, you will be responsible for:
- Site Investigation: Act as Owner’s Technical Representative on the transmission line project site regarding construction contractor’s geotechnical site investigations to assess soil and rock properties.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate and mitigate potential geotechnical risks associated with construction contractor’s foundation designs and installation methodology in relation to site conditions.
- Design: Review the foundation systems designed by the construction contractor tailored to specific project requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the construction contractor, project engineering, construction field teams, and other team members to ensure the integration of foundation designs with overall project plans.
- Compliance: Ensure all foundation designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in foundation engineering and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and documentation for foundation designs, including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Project Management: Oversee the construction and load testing of foundation systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards
Education & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in foundation engineering, particularly in the transmission line, energy and power sector.
Technical/Job Specific Knowledge Abilities:
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in geotechnical software, excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Competencies:
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design principles, and geotechnical engineering.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to participate in site investigations, assess resulting data and analyze foundation designs.
- Project Management: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring timely completion.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present findings to stakeholders.
