Your Opportunity:
Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital is a rural facility located in Castor Alberta. You will be working with a small Lab/DI team, who work closely with nursing and other health care professionals. The position includes day shifts during the week and evening call, as well as one in four weekends on call with a 30 minute response time required. As a CLXT, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging for rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting of biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, performing ECGs and Holter monitors.
Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT).Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent relevant experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist performing procedures in a core laboratory and general diagnostic imaging, including hospital affiliated training programs. Laboratory experience includes hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation and referral. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor techniques. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to demonstrate good customer service skills in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and have the ability to adapt to many changes. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references
Preferred Qualifications:Familiar with Sysmex XS-1000i, Roche Coaguchek, Clinitek Status, i-Stat and Triage Meters. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Recent experience with Muse, PEI, Caresphere, Wellsky, Unity Real Time and Connect Care.
