This position provides social, emotional, and behavioral support to students through the implementation of programming rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis.  Oversight of individual and/or group behavior plans, skill building through direct and incidental instruction, data collection, and facilitating developmentally appropriate reparative work in order to support students’ ability to access their learning environments safely and successfully. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement individual or group behavior plans.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with students.
  • Engage in play, support academics, and help students navigate social interactions.
  • Provide support, de-escalation, crisis management, and post-incident debrief for students in crisis using Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI) training.
  • Track and maintain data collection systems developed by BCBA.
  • Provide modeling of programming for school team members.
  • Short-term matches for stabilization before transitioning student to lesser levels of support or year long matches with students with intensive behavior support needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge

Education:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience working with students
  • Understanding of the function of student behavior.
  • Training in Social/Emotional practices. 

Licenses and Endorsement:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to complete RBT coursework, complete supervised hours, and take certification exam (paid by MMUUSD).

 

  Skills

Language Skills

Ability to speak/understand English language and read/comprehend simple instructions.

Technical Skills

Solid understanding of Google platform including docs, spreadsheets, presentation and Microsoft Suite.

Abilities

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply deductive reasoning and carry out simple instructions, Ability to deal with changing situations with multiple variables, and the ability to make reasoned decisions within established guidelines.

Physical Ability

Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds required. Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and see at a distance of 20 inches or less. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Confidentiality/Discretion

  • This position is regularly exposed to student information.
  • A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.  

Decision Making Authority

  • Decisions impact personnel and students and are made in consultation with the Elementary Integrationist and Building Administrators.

Work Environment

This job operates in a school environment and generally works inside, but will also work with students. The noise level is predominantly moderate, depending on the situation.
