The Payroll and Benefits function is responsible for the accurate and timely management of employee payroll processes and benefits programs, in accordance with organizational policies and local labor laws. This position assists with audits, administers benefits programs, addresses payroll and HR inquiries, and generates reports for management. Candidates should have experience in multi-state payroll, employee benefits, and demonstrate a collaborative and solutions-based approach.

Responsibilities

  • Administer accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for all U.S. employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing—including salary calculations, deductions, and benefits administration—using ADP Workforce Now, handling tasks beyond third-party processors' scope as needed.
  • Maintain precise payroll records, including pay history, deductions, and benefits, and ensure proper filing for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll tax issues via ADP SmartCompliance, and support new state taxation requirements, unemployment, and workers' compensation setup.
  • Manage administration, funding, and reconciliation of health, retirement, wellness, ancillary benefits, and 401(k) plans.
  • Lead annual open enrollment, benefit communication, and employee education initiatives.
  • Support annual compensation reviews and aid in developing materials to help employees understand their total compensation packages.
  • Generate payroll reports, analyze trends, and recommend process improvements; participate in month, quarter, and year-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (ACA, COBRA, ERISA) and assist with regulatory filings such as Form 5500.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing payroll across multiple entities, including multi-state payroll processing and tax compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations and multi-state compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and proven capability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong planning skills, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize responsibilities efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay Range for roles performed in NC: $90,000-$115,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, 

experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation 

package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance 

coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
