Position Overview:

Candidates can live anywhere in the U.S., with a preference towards the Eastern or Central Time Zones.

 

The Manager, Operations Excellence, reporting to the Director of Operations Excellence & Transformation, will work closely with field leadership, category, supply chain, IT and other functional teams to support operational excellence and build a sustainable continuous improvement culture throughout the organization. The Manager role will focus on supporting initiatives within the Hardscapes, Natural Stone and Nursery business. In this capacity, the Manager will be responsible for helping design, implement, and maintain processes, procedures, and standards necessary to realize the strategic and business goals of the line of business. Candidates must have the ability to think critically, prioritize initiatives based on speed to value, and support the execution of programs across all branch locations.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with field leadership to identify and implement process improvements that enhance branch operations and customer experience.
  • Support development and execution of the operational excellence roadmap for the Hardscapes, Natural Stone, and Nursery business and align across field and functional leaders.
  • Coordinate and track initiatives, ensuring the fundamentals of operational excellence are consistently applied across the company.
  • Assist field teams in creating and executing continuous improvement plans for B2B businesses and store operations.
  • Collect and analyze operational data using appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to identify and document improvements.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate program success and operational effectiveness.

 

Travel expectations:

  • This role requires up to 50% overnight travel throughout the U.S. and Canada
Skills We Are Seeking::

Skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage analytically rigorous initiatives including defining, refining and documenting operational processes that support continuous improvement.
  • Strong prioritization, process improvement, and project coordination experience in a consulting and/or business environment required; experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment is also ideal.
  • Familiarity with P&L concepts and branch/store operations preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to initiate, plan, organize and complete projects.
  • High energy, data-driven and results oriented with strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methods.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in operations, consulting, or distribution/retail.
  • Experience supporting process improvement or lean transformation initiatives with proven results.
  • Exposure to B2B customer strategy for store/field operations and wholesale distribution preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent training desirable.
