About Us:

A project of the George Kaiser Family Foundation, The Gathering Place is an award-winning riverfront park designed to welcome all Tulsans to a vibrant and inclusive community space that engages, educates, and excites! 


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across park facilities, including playground equipment, buildings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems. This role also includes maintaining life safety systems as well as performing site inspections, preventative maintenance, and hardscape repairs. The ideal candidate will have broad working experience in facility maintenance, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Requirements

Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):

  • Provide exemplary guest satisfaction by embracing Gathering Place culture as directed.
  • Assist park leaders and team members in providing a safe environment for guests and co-workers by following all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all operating policies and procedures on a continuous basis to ensure safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on all assigned equipment. Daily, weekly, monthly.
  • Assigned equipment includes but is not limited to:
    • Playground equipment
    • Park buildings and facilities
    • Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
    • Life safety systems 
    • Park hardscape
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records on all repairs and inspections by using Computer Maintenance Management Software (TMA). 
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ensure all work conforms to federal, state and local safety laws.
  • Be professional, courteous and initiate positive interaction with park guests.
  • Respond to internal requests in a timely manner.
  • Consistently practice safe habits including the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), safe lifting techniques, and reporting safety concerns.
  • Maintain a professional appearance that meets Gathering Place grooming standards.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need including open, mid, closing shifts, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable with exposure to noise and vibrations.
  • Must be able to work indoors / outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must have the visual and auditory acuity plus communication skills needed for park general safety practices.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of noise volume levels.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, twist and turn with complete flexibility and maneuver in and around tight spaces.
  • Must be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor and handling chemicals with training (grease, oil, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Desire and ability to enhance The Gathering Place brand and its executive team in the best interest of the Community, The George Kaiser Family Foundation, donors, and all Stakeholders.
  • Broad working knowledge in facilities maintenance trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Must have the ability to work with and interact positively with guests.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge.
  • Must have knowledge of hand / power tools used in the trade.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving record.
  • A high school or equivalency diploma is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Heavy equipment operating skills and knowledge
  • Experience with playground equipment maintenance and repair is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications are preferred but not required. 

Safety-Sensitive:


This is a safety-sensitive position. Applicants, regardless of whether they are a medical marijuana licensee, must receive a negative result on a 10-panel, pre-placement drug screening to include THC, prior to beginning work.
