Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? As a Bilingual Enrollment Coordinator in Newark, you will be at the heart of connecting families with quality education options at North Star Academy. You’ll engage directly with families, community organizations, and local partners to support student recruitment and enrollment efforts. In this role, you’ll help make education accessible by providing information and guidance in Spanish—and preferably Portuguese—to families looking for the best opportunities for their children. Your work will drive meaningful impact for students and families in Newark, helping to shape a brighter future.

Role and Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Organize and participate in grassroots outreach efforts such as canvassing, flyering, and phone banking within the Newark community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations to increase awareness of North Star Academy.
  • Plan and execute both in-person and virtual enrollment events for prospective families.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for North Star Academy in the local community.

Family Support & Enrollment Assistance

  • Support families in understanding North Star Academy as an educational option.
  • Provide clear answers to frequently asked questions and facilitate opportunities to visit schools or connect with current parents and staff.
  • Guide families through the application and enrollment process with care and clarity.

Bilingual Communication

  • Use fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) to connect authentically with Spanish-speaking families.
  • Preferred: Fluency in Portuguese (written and verbal) to extend support to Portuguese-speaking families.
  • Assist with additional duties and projects that support the success of North Star Academy schools as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in student recruitment, community outreach, or a similar role.
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) is required. Fluency in Portuguese is a strong plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable using data systems to track enrollment progress and improve outreach strategies.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and carry moderately heavy objects (20-40 lbs) during outreach events.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to supporting families through the enrollment process.

Compensation 

Compensation for this role is between $21.15/hr to $28.95/hr. 

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements you will likely receive an offer of $22/hr.
