About the Department
The purpose of this position is to receive, store and issue stolen, lost or confiscated property for court and receive and distribute materials, supplies and equipment for the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Position Duties
Receives, inventories and stores stolen, lost or confiscated property.
Processes property for return to rightful owner.
Records transactions and releases property to government personnel for court proceedings.
Communicates processes and procedures with the public regarding property involvement.
Maintains records concerning property transactions within database.
Issues internal equipment to officers within department.
Conducts inventories of items kept within facility.
Operates multiple computer programs and records management systems.
Records electronic transactions within database through various devices.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of warehouse, stockroom or inventory maintenance experience.
Other Minimum Requirements
Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them.
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis. An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening.
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test.
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
Applicants who have illegally bought or used marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within six months of application will be disqualified.
Applicants who have illegally sold marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within one year of application will be disqualified.
Applicants who have illegally bought, sold, or used any controlled substance or narcotic drug, other than marijuana, without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified.
Physical Demands
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Must be able to lift inventory, materials, supplies and equipment.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)
Exposure to blood pathogens from DNA biological evidence and accidental puncture due to needles or sharp objects related to narcotics use that could contain blood.
Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
Vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors.
Toxic/caustic chemicals, explosives.

Salary Grade: U006
After successful completion of the probationary/training period, the salary would increase to $42,598.40 annually..
Test Weights:
Clerical Exam: 50%
Training & Experience: 50%
