Topco Associates is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for the Accounting team in Itasca, IL. This position will be a hybrid role, with the successful candidate conducting work in our Itasca office three times per week and virtual twice per week.

Under the direction of the Associate Manager, the Staff Accountant monitors and controls monthly close activities, ensuring the completion of tasks by required deadlines. Ensures accurate and complete accounting. Prepares and communicates performance and opportunity analyses to management.
Responsibilities:- Partner with Sourcing/Program management for timely activation of rebate agreement accruals. Utilize control procedures for complete and accurate review of rebate documentation and calculation design.
- Prepare monthly rebate performance variance analysis to prior year and budget.
- Assist in the preparation quarterly rebate forecasts.
- Identify and communicate rebate gaps and opportunities to Sourcing/Program management.
- Work with Sourcing/Program management to ensure volume incentive agreements are documented and current and volume incentive amounts are collected on a timely basis.
- Perform various monthly rebate accounting close procedures, including: accrual and reserve calculation, journal entry posting, select general ledger and A/R sub-ledger account reconciliation.
- Coordinate collection of past-due rebate balances with Sourcing/Program management, vendors, and A/P team.
- Prepare work papers for year-end audit and assist outside auditors with year-end audit.
- Partner with accounts payable auditors in their review of potential volume incentive claims.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

- Timely completion and delivery of special projects as needed
Education:
- Four-year college degree in accounting or finance
Technical skills:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite. Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Good understanding of internal controls
- SAP experience preferred
Previous experience:
- One to two years of accounting or financial analysis experience preferred.
Other qualifications:
- Organized self-starter, able to work independently
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines on a regular basis
- Ability to successfully handle multiple projects and priorities
- Committed individual to take ownership and bring high personal standards to the workplace
