Position Overview:
This position involves performing a variety of both light duty mechanical work, GPS installations, quality check test drives after recon and service work along with other general porter duties such as transporting cars and general cleaning and organizing throughout the dealership. This position is also responsible for ensuring front line available vehicles for sale are maintained and fully ready for delivery at time of sale as well as helping in detail as needed and any other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as changing batteries and oil and filter
- Check to ensure tires are properly inflated and replenish vehicle fluids
- Lubricate joints and fittings as needed
- Light duty mechanical work; brakes and suspension etc.
- Install both wired and wireless GPS units
- Ensure vehicle interiors are kept clean while performing maintenance and servicing tasks
- Assist shop technicians with their duties, if necessary, including testing brakes or lights, lifting heavy parts, cleaning spills, etc.
- Act as a driver for company-owned and customer-owned vehicles to be moved either within the lot or to other locations for various vendor needs or customer convenience
- Perform quality check test drives post recon and service work
- Perform facility maintenance activities which include property cleanup, restroom maintenance and washing and detailing lot vehicles
- Checking and maintaining front line available units for sale
- All vehicles start and run
- Gas tank is filled to min. ¼ tank
- Keeping front line cars parked in an organized fashion
- All keys are in the key box for front line vehicles
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Work in a minimally climate-controlled facility and outside daily
- Willingness to learn and to perform a wide range of allocated tasks
- Lift heavy vehicle parts and boxes
- Capable of customer interaction when necessary
- Team Player
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Lean, stoop, reach into and around vehicles to perform detailing duties
