POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for driving and maneuvering yard goat and trailers from dock to dock switching out trailers to keep receiving activities moving
- Responsible for drop and hook trailers safely
- Responsible for performing yard audits at beginning and end of shift
- Ensure that trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading for pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions
- Perform daily safety checks on yard truck and report any issues to management
- Maintain a clean and organized yard
- Responsible for performing pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions
- Adhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within the yard
- Communicate with others including management to ensure efficient operations are being performed
- Conduct material handling tasks when not operating yard goat
- Perform any other distribution material handling tasks when not operating yard goat, e. operating sit down and reach forklifts including loading, unloading trucks and putting away materials in locations
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
- Tractor Trailer experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Possess a team-player attitude
- May substitute local for over-the-road experience
- This position must pass pre-hire background and drug test
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS)
