Reports to: Building Principal, Assistant Principal and/or Director of Facilities and Grounds
Terms of
Employment: 12 month period. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
SUMMARY: To provide leadership for the building custodial staff and perform a variety of tasks involving general care of the building and grounds which involves cleaning, repairing, and maintenance. To ensure students, staff, and public a safe, clean, attractive, comfortable, and efficient place in which to learn, engage, and develop.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership, supervises, and assigns work to building custodians. Manages overall work schedules for custodial staff and coordinates with building principals additional work if needed.
Performs all duties, as listed in the Custodian Job Description, and ensures custodial staff maintains high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
Oversees maintenance of interior and exterior of buildings and grounds and ensures all electrical and mechanical components are in working order.
Abides by local and state laws and all OSHA and HIPPA regulations.
Ensures all repairs and damages that are reported are resolved quickly and satisfactory.
Maintains and manages supplies and materials to ensure custodial support to the building.
Trains and develops new employees in proper cleaning and maintenance.
Keeps records of all inspections and posts all licenses as require by state law.
Assists with principals in working with extracurricular activities and groups who use the building to ensure custodian(s) and set-ups are provided.
Maintains all custodial and grounds equipment, such as mowers, edgers, weed eaters, scrubbers, etc., as well as any other equipment owned by Seymour Community Schools.
Has basic knowledge of light and sound equipment.
Any other duties assigned by the building principal and/or Director of Facilities and Grounds.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledgeable with materials and equipment used in the care of school, gym, and grounds.
Able to lift 50-100 pounds and perform physical duties including, but not limited to, climbing ladders, using lifts up to 48', working on roofs, etc.
Ability to maintain congenial, positive, and productive working relationships with students, staff, and the public.
Possess general knowledge of school's electrical and mechanical operations.
Demonstrates leadership abilities with staff and in planning, organizing, and communicating, managing tasks simultaneously, scheduling staff, and accomplish work within an established time.
Demonstrates computer skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED diploma
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply general mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community, and ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
