Eastmont High School - Math Teacher (0.6 FTE) bei Eastmont School District

Duties:

1. Primary teaching assignment –Math for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students including benchmark and intervention level classes.
2. Experience working with math department staff to improve student learning through common formative and summative assessments
3. Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum.
4. Ability to adapt teaching techniques to a variety of student needs and academic abilities
5. Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude and interest.
6. Provide for individual needs of assigned students.
7. Incorporates “Best Practices” into lesson planning.
8. Works well with poverty and low-achieving students.
9. Willing to work collaboratively before and after school.
10. Cooperate with principal, department, staff, and community in implementation of comprehensive instructional and activities program(s).
11. Maintain strong, productive relationships with other employees, parents, and students.
12. Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program.
13. Be open to dialog between district stakeholders to look at alternative methods of teaching.
14. Be willing to eventually take on leadership role in the department or building.
15. Be willing to have a schedule that could vary from year to year based on student needs.
16. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Masters Degree in Mathematics
2. • Current enrollment in  Master Degree in Mathematics program will only be considered if there are no qualified/endorsed candidates
3. Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with Math endorsement
4. Secondary science endorsement preferred as well
5. Middle school/secondary experience preferred.
6. Successful experience and interest/ability to instruct junior high school mathematics.
7. Proven ability to translate fundamental concepts of mathematics into the junior high school instructional program.
8. Understanding and knowledge of junior high school students.
9. Strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies.
10. Demonstrated ability to prescribe appropriate instruction and training; use a variety of teaching materials and strategies; plan and carry out instruction to meet varied needs of students.
11. Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and classified personnel.
12. Willingness to benefit from the building supervision and evaluation programs.
13. Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, district or building level committees, professional organizations, and by evidence of continuing education.
14. Demonstrated interest in becoming involved in extracurricular activities such as sports, music, drama, journalism, clubs, and related activities.
15. Excellent attendance required.

Physical Requirements:

The job's functions requires the following physical demands:

• Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds); carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
