Duties:
- Primary teaching assignment –Math for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students including benchmark and intervention level classes.
- Experience working with math department staff to improve student learning through common formative and summative assessments
- Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum.
- Ability to adapt teaching techniques to a variety of student needs and academic abilities
- Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude and interest.
- Provide for individual needs of assigned students.
- Incorporates “Best Practices” into lesson planning.
- Works well with poverty and low-achieving students.
- Willing to work collaboratively before and after school.
- Cooperate with principal, department, staff, and community in implementation of comprehensive instructional and activities program(s).
- Maintain strong, productive relationships with other employees, parents, and students.
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program.
- Be open to dialog between district stakeholders to look at alternative methods of teaching.
- Be willing to eventually take on leadership role in the department or building.
- Be willing to have a schedule that could vary from year to year based on student needs.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mathematics

- Current enrollment in Master Degree in Mathematics program will only be considered if there are no qualified/endorsed candidates
- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with Math endorsement
- Secondary science endorsement preferred as well
- Middle school/secondary experience preferred.
- Successful experience and interest/ability to instruct junior high school mathematics.
- Proven ability to translate fundamental concepts of mathematics into the junior high school instructional program.
- Understanding and knowledge of junior high school students.
- Strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to prescribe appropriate instruction and training; use a variety of teaching materials and strategies; plan and carry out instruction to meet varied needs of students.
- Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and classified personnel.
- Willingness to benefit from the building supervision and evaluation programs.
- Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, district or building level committees, professional organizations, and by evidence of continuing education.
- Demonstrated interest in becoming involved in extracurricular activities such as sports, music, drama, journalism, clubs, and related activities.
- Excellent attendance required.
Physical Requirements:
The job's functions requires the following physical demands:
- Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds); carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
