Delivery Driver
Basic Functions: To pick up and deliver a variety of cafeteria or instructional supplies, food, equipment, money, and mail to various schools and other sites in the district; and to provide a variety of routine stocking, storage and inventory activities at assigned site locations. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from the Food Service Supervisor or Designee within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class exercises responsibility of the timely delivery of supplies, food, equipment and other materials to assigned school sites. This job class provides miscellaneous stocking, storage, and/or inventory activities at assigned site locations.
Typical Duties:
- Loads and unloads delivery vehicle with materials, supplies, food and equipment for delivery
- Delivers meals from designated district serving facilities as directed
- Maintains strict delivery time schedules for assigned routes
- Fills orders and delivers food and cafeteria supplies from district warehouse to kitchen/cafeteria sites
- Delivers frozen foods from freezer locker to kitchen/cafeteria sites
- Delivers supplies, materials and equipment from district warehouse to various school sites
- Delivers and picks ups materials from all district sites including parcels, boxes and packages
- Picks up empty food containers, daily cash receipts and reports from school cafeterias
- Delivers daily cash deposits picked up from school sites and places in safe as required and directed
- Picks up materials from vendors as assigned and scheduled
- Performs stocking, storage and inventory activities in warehouse or storage area as directed by assigned supervisor
- Performs routine maintenance and safety check of delivery vehicle adding gas and other needed fluids following vehicle service/maintenance schedule
- Refers major vehicle maintenance need to appropriate personnel
- Delivers dumpsters to a waste disposal site and returns empty dumpsite as needed and directed
- Operates a fork lift and other warehouse equipment
- Maintains daily log records of deliveries/pick-ups
- Performs related duties consistent with job description
Employment Standards:
- Possession of a valid California driver's license
- Knowledge of safe driving laws, regulations and practices
- Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance requirements
- Knowledge of District Warehouse procedures and operations as related to stocking, inventory and delivery functions
- Knowledge of rules and procedures regulating freight and parcel shipments
- Knowledge of requisitions, invoices and delivery slips
- Ability to learn the location of all schools and other programs sites in the district
- Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
- Ability to perform routine record keeping functions
- Ability to meet the physical requirement of the job
- Ability to perform routine maintenance of delivery vehicle
- Ability to use/operate safely and effectively warehouse tools and equipment including a hand truck and fork lift
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties

- Physical ability to Lift, carry, push, and/or pull supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds
