POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides in field supervision, management, and training to Mechanic II. Performs all repairs, installation, and preventative maintenance of all plumbing systems and equipment at all buildings within the District. This position reports to the Plumbing Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides field supervision, management, and assistance to Mechanic II. Assists with project management, while training on assigned duties and job tasks. Performs all Plumbing repairs and installations using standard plumbing codes and appropriate safety procedures; accurately diagnoses all plumbing malfunctions. Reports progress to employee and department supervisor.
Troubleshoots plumbing issues with water mains, sewer mains, and underground utilities, and recommends solutions.
Operates different tools and equipment (i.e., hand tools, sewer machines, soldering pipe, etc.) relevant to making repairs and installations.
Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience required.
Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within District.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License required. Trade/technical license/certificate preferred.
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Plumbing Supervisor. Moderate independent judgement required.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance; may require occasional contact with outside agencies and the District.
Provides field supervision, guidance, training, and safety management to Mechanic II positions.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).
Variable work environment – Facilities Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures
Provides periodic on-call support after normal work hours (twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week) to alleviate emergency situations.
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs
Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position.
NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
