Hours: 37 hours per week

Base Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role:

 

An exciting opportunity for you to join a small team to find your greatness as a Senior Transactions Officer and help lead the Income Team by helping them by accurately processing all incoming moneys received by the Council, greatly helping the cash flow and ensuring customer accounts are kept up to date efficiently contributing to the reporting of Council budgets. You will be responsible for 3 team members along with monthly Bank account reconciliations. 

 

You will also provide assistance to Council Officers and Customers answering simple queries and occasionally liaise with other government departments and outside organisations.

As a Senior Financial Transactions Officer you will be responsible for ensuring bank files are uploaded and allocate all income transactions received by the Council from the different payment methods offered by the Council to the correct customer accounts or budget codes required. You will liaise with other Council teams, external organisations, companies and Council customers regarding queries on payments received and ensure funds are allocated correctly and efficiently. There are many different payment streams into the Council and the Income Team ensure all run smoothly on a daily basis, knowledge of different payment methods and time delays would be an advantage but no essential as training will be given. As a Senior Income Officer you will also be responsible for the set up of new users on the Council’s payment system and ensure the systems is maintained.  

 

Administrative and financial background is essential for this position, whilst you will be working as part of a small team you will also be required to work on your own with certain tasks once fully trained, accuracy and efficiency is a high priority due to the nature of the role but there is a wide range of tasks to be completed so would suit someone who likes variety and is both quick and eager to learn new things and able to deal with interruptions and switching tasks quickly.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual with both good accounting and customer service experience. You must be able to prioritise a varied workload to strict deadlines, work efficiently and accurately, retaining an eye for detail and be a strong lead person. You will be a confident and self-motivated individual with good communication and interpersonal skills, have a strong customer focus, a flexible approach and attitude, and a commitment to continuous improvement and development of our financial processes.Central Bedfordshire Council has its own vision and values that are integral to everything we do.
