We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our growing team as Apprentice Field Technicians. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a hands-on career in clean water operations while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

What Happens After the Apprenticeship?
 
We want you to stay and grow with us. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, we aim to offer all apprentices a permanent role as a Clean Water Field Technician. From there, you’ll have access to continuous development opportunities through both internal mentoring and external training programmes.

Key Responsibilities

This 18-month, Level 3 Diploma in Water Process Technology is a blend of real-world experience and structured learning. You will spend 20% of your time in a formal training environment, supported by both internal and external training providers. The remaining 80% will be hands-on, working out in the field alongside experienced professionals, where you will develop practical skills and apply what you've learned.

As part of this apprenticeship, you’ll get involved in major engineering and infrastructure projects, including reservoir outages and chlorination activities, which will provide you with insight into high-impact operations within the clean water sector.

Throughout the programme, you’ll gain a wide range of technical and practical skills, including:
  • Analysing and assessing network performance, including water pressure, flow, and leakage
  • Investigating and resolving network performance issues
  • Applying procedures to reduce the risk of supply interruptions
  • Maintaining water networks, equipment, and systems such as pumps and control valves
  • Supervising street works and ensuring safety on-site
  • Using electronic location equipment to identify underground cables
  • Applying hydraulic principles to diagnose faults within the network
  • Planning and authorising network operations, including valve work
  • Ensuring continuity of supply and maintaining water quality during network activities
You’ll also receive formal training and certification in:
  • National Water Hygiene (EUSR)
  • Signing, Lighting and Guarding (NRSWA Unit 2)
  • Valve Operations
  • Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA Water)
  • Confined Space Entry
  • First Aid

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be enthusiastic, hardworking, and a strong communicator
  • Have a proactive mindset with a desire to learn and build a career
  • Be safety-conscious with strong attention to detail
  • Have comfortability working outdoors in all weather (full uniform and PPE provided)
  • Ideally possess a full UK driving licence which will be required for long-term employment following qualification
  • Hold GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Be able to travel around London by car or using public transport
