Job Description:

Job Title: Project Lead (Aerospace)
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid)
Seniority: Senior (10–15 years of experience)

We are looking for an experienced Project Lead with a strong background in aerospace or defence engineering to take responsibility for both project delivery and people leadership. This is a chance to guide teams working on complex, mission-critical projects while helping to shape solutions that keep global fleets flying.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of complex aerospace engineering projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met.
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Create and maintain project plans, budgets, and resource forecasts in line with business objectives.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement with engineering teams, leadership, and external partners.
  • Ensure projects comply with aerospace standards, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and maintain progress reporting to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in people management within engineering (leading teams, resource allocation, staff development).
  • Strong track record in project management of aerospace or defence programmes.
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle management, from requirements through to delivery.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • OR Recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM, PMP, PRINCE2)

Useful/Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with aerospace modification, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul), or defence projects.
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks and earned value management (EVM).
