The Elections Outreach Associate is responsible for performing administrative support activities which require incumbents to know routine policies and procedures of elections gained through training and on-the-job experience. Incumbents respond to public inquiries, provide accurate information regarding voter registration and election processes, process standard election-related forms, verify completeness of documents, maintain logs and records, and direct callers or visitors to appropriate election staff.
Essential Duties
- Greeting and directing the public
- Welcoming visitors and directing them to the appropriate person or team for assistance with voting, registration, or other election matters.
- Interacting with the public and exhibiting excellent verbal and written skills
- Operating multi-line telephone systems and providing front-desk reception support.
- Answering phones, screening calls, taking messages, and routing inquiries to other staff members. This includes responding to emails and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Performing general office support duties such as filing, printing, faxing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
- Processing sensitive and critical voter information and handling election records.
- Maintaining paper and electronic logs, files, forms, and other documents.
Public Speaking Duties
- Conducting voter outreach and education presentations at community events and public meetings. Generally, public meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center Auditorium located at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville.
Salary/Grade
Elections Associate I: $38,559 - $44,343 (Grade B211)
Elections Associate II: $45,600 - $52,440 (Grade B231)
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Elections Associate I
- High school diploma or GED
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid driver's license
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (Any person employed or retained by a county election superintendent to undertake any election related duties arising from this chapter shall be a citizen of the United States. OCGA § 21-2-78. Added by 2024 Ga. Laws 599,§ 1, eff. 7/1/2024.)
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of elections experience related to the area of assignment
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid driver's license
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (Any person employed or retained by a county election superintendent to undertake any election related duties arising from this chapter shall be a citizen of the United States. OCGA § 21-2-78. Added by 2024 Ga. Laws 599,§ 1, eff. 7/1/2024.)
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Reception, call center, website auditing/review, voter outreach and voter education experience preferred
