Job Title: Staff Accountant/Associate

Core Functional Summary
The Staff Accountant responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, assisting with month end processing, balancing and posting investment portfolio activity, regulatory reporting and serving as back up for specific duties to other members of the accounting team. The position requires the Staff Accountant to be able to work in a fast paced environment and know how to prioritize to ensure timely completion of responsibilities assigned. Skills required include ability to multitask, attention to detail, confidentiality, and reporting skills, deadline oriented and time management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned
- Organizes reconciliation and classification of the Bank’s corporate credit card.
- Performs general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations.
- Prepares journal entries and financial statements, creating and maintaining periodic reporting
- Assists with the preparation of regulatory reports, as necessary.
- Assists with end of month closings.
- Daily reconciliation/balancing of bank official checks.
- Assist with Board of Directors reporting.
- Assists with departmental cross training, vacations and coverage of functions as required.
- Supports the SVP/CFO and the VP – Accounting/Finance with the tasks and duties assigned to the department.
- Assists with gathering information and preparation of materials for audits and reviews.
- Assists with the implementation and improvement of FDICIA Controls and related assignments
- Assists with any special projects or tasks as needed.
- General Accounting – related tasks
- Verifies that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Prepares and submits financial regulatory reports
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business or related field preferred.
- Experience with Banktel and Silverlake systems preferred
- Minimum of two years of banking experience, customer service and general banking experience.
- Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish. Ability to fluently speak, understand, read and write both languages.
- Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.)
