The Commission directs the growth, operation and business activities of RIC and works tirelessly to ensure it continues to be an affordable option for local, regional, and out-of-state travelers.

Description of Responsibilities: The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing outreach programs, acting as a liaison between the airport and the community to increase participation, build relationships, and promote shared goals. Coordinates event logistics, including securing venues, arranging technical needs, and managing budgets. Collaborates with social media team to generate content and contribute to website updates to promote upcoming opportunities and communicate the value of ongoing programs. Assists in the development and distribution of marketing materials to promote community engagement, including brochures, presentations, newsletters, press releases and others as needed. Collects and researches community issues, marquee events and participation of activities relevant to community mission of the airport.  

Required Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Three or more (3+) years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism.

Required Skills: 

  • Strong media relations understanding and the ability with key team members to navigate crisis communications if required
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to support high-level leaders in public engagements.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
