Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications to patients. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that prescriptions are filled accurately and efficiently, contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community. You will also be responsible for managing inventory, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. Ultimately, your work will directly impact patient care and satisfaction in various pharmacy settings, including retail and hospital environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enter and process medication orders in the pharmacy system.
  • Prepare and fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain inventory levels and assist in ordering medications and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sterility standards in the pharmacy.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication information.

Skills:

The required skills of order entry and filling prescriptions are essential for ensuring that patients receive the correct medications in a timely manner. Proficiency with FAX machines and other communication tools will facilitate effective collaboration with healthcare providers. Reliability is crucial in this role, as it directly affects patient safety and care. Knowledge of sterilization techniques will help maintain a safe and clean environment, particularly in hospital settings. Additionally, showing respect and empathy towards patients will enhance their experience and foster trust in the pharmacy services.

Education - High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent experience. Certification as a pharmacy technician (CPhT) preferred.
Experience - Experience in community retail pharmacy setting. Knowledge of pharmacy software and order entry systems. 
Other Requirement(s) - Bilingual skills to assist diverse patient populations.
