The pay range represents the anticipated base pay for this position.  Actual pay will be based on factoring including, but not limited to: market data, internal equity, skillset and knowledge, experience, education and overall qualifications for the role. 


This position is eligible for the Commercial Banking Annual Incentive Plan. 


JOB SUMMARY

As the face of the assigned community and a champion of our culture, the Market President provides leadership and overall direction to assigned market.   This position leads the branch staff and holds team members accountable to meeting branch financial and sales goals.  Drives and manages sales, service and operations for assigned branch (es). In addition, this role is responsible for business development and manages a commercial/community business loan portfolio.   


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Optimize team talents by providing leadership and coaching to individuals by:

  • Establishing clear goals that tie to the vision and mission of the business. 
  • Championing the culture with your team and across the organization.  
  • Determine staffing needs; Recruit, hire and onboard talent.  
  • Document and conduct annual performance review process duties on time.
  • Conduct ongoing one on one coaching sessions. 
  • Managing employee performance issues in a timely manner and adhering to employment policies.
  • Participate in leadership training opportunities and apply learnings.

2. Sales and Service Leadership 

  • Develops, models and builds a sales and service culture focused on customer needs and growing customer relationships.
  • Ensure branch/location is successful in achieving commercial/community business and retail objectives and key deliverables around Commercial, Agricultural (if applicable) and Retail Loan Production, Deposit Growth, Business DDAs, referrals and other goals.  
  • Understand local branch market and the opportunities that exist within that trade area; be seen as a viable financial player and competitor in the market place.  Increase household penetration within current customer base.
  • Perform calling activities; Ensure calling expectations are executed by entire team: including but not limited to internal customer calls and external calling efforts.
  • Build relationships with internal business lines partners.
  • Cross sell bank and non-bank products; Solicit business from both new and existing customers through referrals, networking, community connections and target market cold-calling. 
  • Partner on sales calls and mentor branch staff and other leaders on commercial/community business sales strategies.   
  • Appropriately service all customer relationships; manages the tickler system, monitors maturing and past due loans, and customer overdrafts.
  • Lead team members in achieving their quartering incentive targets including:  1) Ensure branch sales goals and referrals align with the MCB strategy 2) Provide ongoing employee coaching to increase overall sales and branch referrals and 3) Ensure that completed proactive sales activities meet expectations for self and team.

3. Maintain Portfolio / Credit Quality

  • Market Leader will have lending authority.  As the first level sponsor for credit decisions, the Market Leader partners effectively with credit staff to ensure credit decisions are within credit policy.      
  • Leads and participates in credit processes and assumes ultimate accountability for all portfolio activities/issues. ensuring sound asset quality, including underwriting, structuring and portfolio management activities, including:
  • Reviews and analyzes customer financial status and risk condition to prepare recommendations.  
  • Ensures accurate loan documentation.
  • Manages loan portfolio to ensure loan conformity and accurate risk ratings. Completes renewals in a timely manner.
  • Partners with credit analysts to prepare and maintain reports required by management and/or other regulators in a timely and accurate manner. 

4. Operational Leadership, including Compliance, Security and Procedures 

  • Manage all branch activities to ensure overall profitability of branch while adhering to corporate and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight and management of branch budget, including development of business plan according to profit model planning.
  • Provides oversight on daily team activities, including training, scheduling and work direction.
  • Prepares various branch required reports on time. 
  • Ensure Bank and Branch security procedures are implemented and followed
  • Maintains working knowledge of laws and regulations in order to ensure tasks completed are compliant.
  • Achieve satisfactory ratings on Internal and Compliance audits. 

5. Community Involvement and Networking

  • Build relationships with business lines partners; Leads business development efforts for introducing customers to bank leaders and other internal partners for relationship deepening and cross-selling opportunities. 
  • Balanced community involvement with an expectation of return.
  • Foster Relationships with centers of influence, including Accounting and Law Firms, etc.

6. Facilities Management and Oversight

  • Manage building/office contracts and vendors.    Ensure all contract pricing is reasonable and negotiate price annually.
  • Maintain building, lawn and parking lot by resolving needs (by contracting out as needed and/or partnering with centralized resources in operations, marketing and/or finance) including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal, cleaning services, document destruction services, repairs, lighting issues, MCB signage, plumbing issues, heat/AC issues and beverage services.
  • Serve as the landlord in multi-tenant buildings as needed

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education-

  • Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management or related degree or equivalent experience

Experience- 

  • Required: 10+ years of financial services experience with at least 3 years of leadership capacity and 3 years in commercial / community business lending and/or credit analysis.  
  • Preferred: 12+ years of financial services experience 


SCHEDULE

This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week from 8:30am to 5:00pm. This position is eligible to work a hybrid work schedule, once trained.  The Company reserves the right to change the schedule as required for business needs.
