Precision Orthopedics and Sports Medicine: C-arm Technician/Medical Assistant Dual Role 

Under the direction of the Physicians, this position is responsible for using imaging machines to create images of patients for the Physicians’ review. 

Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Locations: La Plata, Charles Regional Surgical Center, Waldorf, and National Harbor 

C-arm Responsibilities:

• Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body to use the fluoroscopy machine
• Talk the patient through the procedure and answer their questions
• Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position
• Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient
• Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Maintain up to date knowledge of current radiology practices.
• Utilize purchasing and inventory management software as required for purchasing and ordering supplies
• Assist with finding coverage for their position when needed due to vacations or time out of the office

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

• Assist physician with minor procedures
• Triage and room patients, and complete necessary paperwork in patient charts

Requirements:

• The ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment
• A Maryland state license and certification to practice
• Proven proficiency using the c-arm
• 1 year of relevant c-arm experience required; this can include internships
• Prior experience in orthopedics and/or sports medicine preferred
• Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
• Willing and able to travel to Precision’s office locations, including mid-shift location changes as needed
