The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the various electromechanical systems and equipment that support our high-volume catalyst manufacturing operation. Working with the Spartanburg Engineering and Operations team, the Maintenance Technician will ensure the smooth operation of equipment and machinery by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and making necessary repairs. They are responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment by keeping all mechanical systems functioning optimally.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to perform preventive as well as emergency repairs on all critical manufacturing equipment. Through operational testing and diagnostic services, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the equipment supporting the manufacturing line. This role entails working closely with engineering and operations and the equipment manufacturers to ensure the systems are performing at their optimum output levels and efficiency. The Maintenance Technician must become proficient with all the electronic and mechanical components and systems that the equipment is comprised of. The technician must be familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electronic process controllers and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as they often play a critical part in routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Key responsibilities also involve:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems within the manufacturing facility.
- Performing regularly scheduled and unplanned maintenance on these systems.
- Diagnosing problems and making necessary repairs to equipment and systems.
- Modifying and testing equipment to ensure it operates safely and effectively.
- Maintain compliance with Environmental regulations and OSHA Safety standards, including all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Consulting with engineers, equipment manufacturers and other professionals on the proper operation and maintenance of the manufacturing line.
- Perform detailed maintenance and repairs including preventative maintenance procedures with computerized maintenance management software.
- Implementing operational standards and procedures to increase efficiency in operations.
- Reading and interpreting schematic drawings and electrical system diagrams.
- Repairing critical electromechanical components such as sensors, motors, and displays.
- Calibrating and configuring instruments and equipment according to specifications.
- Collaborating with team members to optimize system performance based on data analysis and feedback.
- Updating system software and performing security checks to safeguard operational integrity.
- Assist with other areas of the Operation or Facility as necessary.
Requirements:
- The Maintenance Technician ideally would have an associate’s degree in electromechanical technology, electrical or electronic technology or Technical School certification in Industrial Maintenance and /or related experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, or equivalent Military training and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar maintenance role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in electrical and electronic systems, equipment and programmers.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proven problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Identifies faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
- Sources replacement parts, orders and maintains spares and consumable materials necessary for repair and maintenance activities.
- Inspects equipment on a regular basis and can shut down and disassembly machinery as needed.
- Experience with PLCs and computer-based diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work off shifts and weekends as necessary to maintain continuous operational performance.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
