 Job Title: Lobby Attendant

Job Summary:  

CASES is looking for a Lobby Attendant to join our Pretrial Services team in our Harlem Community Office. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for everyone who enters our doors. Presentability, punctuality, and organizational skills are key attributes for this position.

As a Lobby Attendant, you will support the Supervised Release Program, a program that makes a significant impact by diverting 5,500 individuals from pretrial detention at Rikers Island to community-based supervision and support services annually. Our program participants come from diverse backgrounds, including youth, young adults, people with substance use disorders, and those experiencing homelessness. Supervised Released participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment, your role will be crucial in tactfully motivating and empowering them to tap into their strengths and make positive life changes while fulfilling court requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing our front desk and lobby area, providing support to both program participants and staff. Your organizational skills and pleasant demeanor will contribute to the smooth operation of our program and create a positive environment for all.


Salary: The hourly salary for this position is $22.00 an hour.

 

Shift Hours: Monday through Friday 9am-5pm

 

Location Address: 4 West 125th Street New York, NY 10027

What you will be doing:
  • Greet all visitors, including SRP participants, staff, and guests, in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Direct guests to the appropriate floor for their visit, as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable lobby at all times.
  • Operate the buzzer system for the main entrance door to allow entry to the office.
  • Ensure that sign-in sheets are up to date by accurately tracking all participants and visitors. 
  • Assist guests with inquiries, directions, and other information about the organization. 
  • Monitor the environment to ensure a safe and secure space for both staff and guests. 
  • Maintain vigilance and ensure the security of the lobby area, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or incidents to management. 
  • Help ensure we maintain a safe working environment by reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions, e.g., liquid spill in hallway, to the appropriate facilities staff member or supervisor. 
  • Coordinate with other staff members to ensure seamless service delivery and guests' satisfaction.

 What we are looking for: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required or Two (2) years similar experience.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. 
  • Ability to multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a fast-paced environment.
  •  Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, as needed.
