JOB SUMMARY              

Reporting to the Fleet Manager primary responsibilities of the Technician III include performing maintenance on all company owned equipment to company and regulatory requirements. Technician III’s are to have knowledge of DOT regulations and Out of Service Criteria. Technician IIIs are responsible to diagnose and communicate parts and repair needs of all equipment in the fleet. Mechanics will perform all aspects of truck and equipment repair to include but not limited to, Engine Diagnostics, Electrical, Hydraulic, Brakes, Suspension, steering, as well as performing Preventive Maintenance.  Technician IIIs will perform service calls.

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Must be able to perform all tasks as assigned with no supervision. 
  • Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement and essential function of all positions
  • Perform scheduled service, maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on all company owned equipment to include road calls. 
  • Must be able to document parts, time, and description of repairs for every unit to be turned in at the end of each task.
  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical issues that are reported on DVIR’s and communicate repairs on DVIR 
  • Must be able to use appropriate resources to diagnose and repair including but not limited to Engine and Chassis Manufacturers websites and proprietary software   
  • Must be proficient in welding
  • Maintains a clean working environment
  • Proactively communicate issues to supervisors as they arise
  • Able to contribute to the goals of the shop and operations of maximizing uptime
  • Wash equipment when necessary
  • Attend vendor and company sponsored training.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Advanced knowledge of repairs and diagnostics
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience or equivalent certifications
  • The ability to use power tools and advanced Diagnostic equipment

 

SKILLS IN:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and to follow safe operating practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written/verbal
  • Exceptional listening, communication, follow-through, and interpersonal skills
  • Team Player 
  • Should be self-motivated, safety oriented and be able to work in a deadline driven environment

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

               MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)  
  • 6 years of experience or equivalent certifications
  • Valid Class C License Class B preferred
  • Advanced computer skills are required 
  • Experience servicing Class 4 thru 8 and heavy duty equipment required
  • Experience in the waste industry is preferred but not required
