SUPPLY CHAIN PACKAGING ENGINEER

Supply Chain Packaging is the technical packaging support for both the Sanford factory and for R&D Packaging, they develop and execute packages that will meet Coty’s required criteria in terms of Functionality, Manufacturability, Aesthetics, Safety, Innovation and Creativity, and Recyclability and Sustainability. The SCP department is committed to developing its team’s technical and business knowledge to enable it to grow and thrive within the Coty organization.
Your main focus:
- Be a leading resource for the Supply Chain Packaging team regarding process, technical, test protocol and team support for components, tertiary and finished goods
- Facilitate technical activities and priorities by working alongside site initiative leaders and R&D partners to contribute to successful introduction of products
- Research, Trial, and Implement package changes enhancing COTY Sanford’s ability to meet Service (Efficiency), Cost (Cost Reduction), and Quality (Right First Time) targets
- Collaboratively with manufacturing and quality assurance resolve component and specification issues for existing packages
- Investigate alternative package designs to reduce costs and increase line efficiency
- Collaborate with operations and marketing teams to seek and execute value analysis projects (package changes resulting in increased margins)
- Collaborate with operations departments and/or suppliers to determine feasibility of package changes related to functionality, compatibility and quality
- Track and provide status updates on all projects
- Consult with Global Package Development Teams to determine global feasibility of package changes
- Participate and/or lead Rapid Improvement Events aimed at identifying step changes resulting in enhanced site capability
- Oversee final approvals for new components following test methods and protocols
- Support Simplification and Standardization work aimed at reducing supply chain time and/or inventory related lean enablers
- Travel to component vendors, outside contractors, Coty global offices and other sites as needed
- Serve as a mentor and participative member of the COTY package development (RDP/SCP) community
- Follow all site GMP policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS |
We’d love to see candidates who have:
Essential:
- B.S Packaging Science or equivalent Engineering discipline
- 1-2+ years of Package Development or equivalent experience within consumer goods industry
- Detailed knowledge of the Physical nature of materials and tooling which produce rigid and flexible packaging such as glass, injection molding, tubes, folding cartons, etc. and decoration techniques
- Physical nature of interactions between multiple components and packaging assembly methods, including tolerance simulations
- CQV (commissioning, qualification, validation) industrialization principles as it relates to new products
- Lean Tools such as process mapping and standard work and root cause problem solving
Functional / Technical Skills:
- Testing methodology, laboratory procedures, and application of measurement standards including use of laboratory equipment
- Project Management
- Knowledge of palletization Software such as CAPE Pack and Logistical Specifications
- Ability to work and make decisions autonomously as well as within focused teams
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and artwork
- Communicate and present on technical elements to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to negotiate with vendors, marketing, and creative teams to secure approvals of package designs
- Ability to execute and provide risk transparency within accelerated launch timings
- Ability to manage multiple projects consecutively
- Define with direct manager development opportunities and execute individual training plan
- Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation
