JOB SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES 

Assumes responsibility and accountability for keeping their designated shift on target for the current daily production schedule and maintains continuous awareness of departmental focus on workplace safety, manufacturing quality, and production efficiency. For the production plan takes into consideration availability of materials and unplanned changes; assumes responsibility and accountability for their shift’s production and packaging of BBF MASSACHUSETTS LLC and private label products; responds to production demands effectively to ensure labor efficiency, material usage, and on-time delivery are at or above standard. Coordinates activities with other Supervisors and Departments and is accountable for accurate communication and effective transfer of in-process production and special projects. Works in a team environment to relate and communicate effectively within the context of BBF MASSACHUSETTS LLC culture and values. Reinforces company values in all aspects of the business through leadership and mentoring. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Ensures compliance of all department personnel and operations with general Company and regulatory policies, as well as standards governing the manufacture of foods. Complies with and implements all Safe Quality Food Program procedures. Works with the designated trainers to ensure training is being conducted effectively and recommends re-training as needed. Facilitates a team-oriented operations environment through applied cooperation and pro-active communication through professional behavior, biweekly operations meeting, and weekly supervisor meetings. 


2. Coordinates and leads shift operations to ensure accurate and efficient manufacturing and packaging of products. Supervises assembly and set-up of equipment for weekly start-up. Identifies bottlenecks processes and maximizes product flow through these areas. Allocates staff as needed to ensure on-time delivery and efficiency standards are achieved. Documents efficiency performance and responds proactively to inefficiencies. Facilitates efficient shift transfer. Communicates with Director of Operations in a timely manner. 


3. Ensures compliance with correct operating procedures by all personnel. Ensures the quality of supplies and products complies with written and expressed standards. Maintains organic guidelines. Responds to quality concerns in a timely and effective manner to ensure control of non-conforming materials and development and implementation of corrective actions. Verifies proper weights, labels, date codes, packaging, ingredients, recipes, and calibration of equipment. Collaborates with Maintenance for workflow to allow troubleshooting of equipment and repairs as needed. 


4. Performs on-going review of documentation for timely completion and accuracy. Calculates batch yields and responds to yield variations appropriately. Reviews published procedures and forms for completion and accuracy for intended use. Recommends revisions to processes and SOP forms to facilitate production and company goals. 


5. Enforces company policies regarding general compliance, safety, and safe operation of equipment to achieve elimination of at-fault injuries. 


6. Conducts daily audits of processes, equipment, and facility to ensure compliance with all written or expressed standards using RMA format. Coordinates with warehouse rotation and placement of ingredients to ensure availability, accessibility, and rotation for FIFO (first-in-first-out”). Assures that  kitchen is organized and is stocked with appropriate supplies. Directs additional housekeeping effort as needed to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices. 


7. Contributes to development of employees through training, assistance with coaching and constructive feedback. Determines need for and coordinates re-training of existing employees. Participates in recruitment of new employees through interview process. 

  

 Sanitation: 

1. Supervises during sanitation. Responsible for managing adherence to all procedures and completing all applicable sanitation forms when their respective team is scheduled to clean. Makes recommendations and changes to sanitation practices and procedures as needed. 


Communication & Teamwork: 

1. Communicates effectively with team members, production management team, and across shifts. Submits questions, concerns, or suggestions about the safety of the work environment or quality of the product.

Requirements

 Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements: 

Minimum of a High School diploma or GED, A.S.; advanced training is preferred. Must have previous supervisory experience or equivalent experience required for duties. Must be proficient in basic math functions such as addition, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages using a calculator. Ability to read and write, converse and follow instructions in English. Must have time management skills, have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Attention to detail ability to follow procedures, and problem solve are essential to the position. Reliability and flexibility are required to perform the sanitation lead responsibilities every third weekend when their team is scheduled to work. 


Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements: 


Environment: Including but not limited to production, warehouse, and office areas, movement throughout the facility. 


Physical Demands: Including but not limited to the ability to lift a 50-pound bag to shoulder height; walking, stooping, lifting, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, and crouching are essential to position. Must have the ability to operate in seasonal temperature variances in unheated and non-air-conditioned areas of the facility. 


Equipment Used: Including but not limited to computer, ribbon mixers, conveyor augers, bucket conveyors, Form, Fill, & Seal machine, computer touchscreen, carton erector, pallet 


2nd Shift is Monday - Friday 2:45 PM - 11:20 PM, with occasional overtime. The starting pay rate is $26.50 plus .75 shift differential DOE.
