GHD has a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Maritime and Coastal (M&C) practice in the Pacific Northwest! As Senior Technical Director , you will use your experience and knowledge to be involved in exciting projects that will offer an opportunity to provide technical solutions and support business development. You will serve as a senior advisor and provide design leadership, project management services, client management, and business development support, relating to M&C projects. Further, you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team on sophisticated and innovative projects, support in the training and mentorship of engineers and other technicians, and become part of our internal leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your industry knowledge, be involved in ambitious projects, provide technical solutions and mentor other specialists.

- Data Collection and Analysis: Make authoritative recommendations that have a significant impact on the business over the short and long term. Recommendations could be technical or professional in nature.
- External Communications: Take responsibility for developing and delivering the organization's external communications system.
- Public/Government Relations Campaign Execution: Take responsibility for implementing the organization's public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration strategy.
- Public/Government Relations Campaign Management: Lead the design, development, and implementation of the organization's public/government relations campaign management strategy.
- Public/Government Relations Campaign Planning: Lead the strategic planning of public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration campaigns for the multinational organization, aligning this with business goals.
- Budgeting: Take responsibility for setting and managing area budgets so they align with organizational strategy.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
- Performance Management: Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance management systems to improve personal performance. Or manage and report on team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold people accountable for achieving them, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
- Organizational Capability Building: Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs of a significant business area. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities. Motivate others to develop their capabilities and fulfill their personal potential. Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop a comprehensive policy framework for a significant area of the business and oversee its implementation.
- Functional Strategy Formation: Lead the development and implementation of strategy for a significant area of responsibility, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy.
- Project Risk and Issue Management: Ensure that risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints are managed appropriately at program and project levels. Where risks or issues threaten delivery of the program, develop and agree on recovery plans.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure that business activities and individuals within a significant area of responsibility adhere to the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions, to safeguard the environment, protect the well-being of individuals, and minimize business risk.
- Community of Practice Management: Lead a community of practice in a strategically significant area of consulting practice or expertise to provide thought leadership and to develop innovative consulting practice among colleagues.
- Project Scope Definition: Lead the planning and delivery of complex, wide-ranging information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and specify, negotiate, and agree on program and project deliverables, ensuring integration across the program and with the wider portfolio, where present.
- Personal Capability Building: Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the function. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage strategic client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using large account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Master's Degree or Equivalent Level
- 15+ years of previous experience in the Ports and Maritime industry

- Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee
- Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. GHD will reimburse 50% of the cost of the following to maximum of $250.00 reimbursement annually for such items as: Health club membership fees, Home exercise equipment purchases, Bicycles, Race, run & marathon entrance fees, Smoking cessation programs, Weight loss programs (i.e.—Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig), Fitbits and Fitness Tracking devices

Salary Range $184,000-$300,000 based on experience
