Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Houston, TX
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on supervisory experience, trust accounting, and financial reconciliation. This role requires someone who is meticulous, organized, and capable of handling significant cleanup work to ensure our financial records are accurate and up-to-date. Experience with personal injury law is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trust Accounting & Reconciliation: Manage and reconcile client trust ledgers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Supervisory Experience: Review and manage the work of accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Heavy Clean-up Work: Take the lead on complex reconciliation and clean-up projects to maintain the integrity of our financial data.
- Auditing: Assist with internal and external audits.
- Software Proficiency: Work with Sage 50 / Sage 300 and SalesForce to manage financial data.
- FC Assistance: Provide comprehensive support to the Financial Controller in all accounting activities.
- Maintain General Ledger
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, processes, and controls.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable department; supervise and provide guidance to staff
- Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor o f Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting
- Proven supervisory experience in a professional setting
- Experience with Trust Accounting and Trust Reconciliation
- Proficiency with Sage 50 / Sage 300 and SalesForce
- Experience with personal injury law is preferred
- Strong reconciliation and auditing skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
