About the Department

The Performance Excellence & Communications Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and oversees the Communications, Marketing, Community Coalition, and Outreach programs. This position will align the organizational strategy and measures to create processes that will enhance our presence in the community. The Performance Excellence & Communications Manager works closely with all leadership to ensure that organizational performance improvement initiatives are well coordinated and measures for each program tie back to the strategic direction of the organization.

Position Duties

Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC’s, or other regulatory bodies.
  • Utilize the Performance Measurement Process (PuMP) for our framework for developing organizational performance measures. 
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director on strategic direction measurements and function as a member of the Senior Leadership Council. 
  • Develop metrics to meet State, Federal, Quality initiatives and to align with the strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Analyze data to lead organizational programs through Plan, Do, Study, Act processes for continuous improvement. 
  • Supervise the Community Relations Supervisor who oversees the Community Coalition Specialists, Suicide Prevention, Mobile Outreach Team, and Marketing/Graphic Design. 
  • Analyze organizational measures and bring to Senior Leadership Council meetings to facilitate our continuous improvement activities. Each measure will have an individual review every 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, or a year; depending on when the team selects for the specific measure to be reviewed.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations to stay informed about industry trends and best practices for performance excellence.

Required
  1. Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, public health, and/or behavioral health related field. 
  2. 5 years supervisory experience in a behavioral health or healthcare organization.
  3. Experience in strategic planning.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Experience in setting metrics, using graphs, and analyzing data.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing the practice of mental health & substance abuse/dependency treatment.
  7. Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  8. Personal computer operations experience.
  9. Valid Washington State Driver’s License: Must have a safe reliable vehicle with proof of automobile insurance. 
  10. Background Check: Must have an acceptable background report, at time of hire and every three years afterward.
  11. Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving report.
Preferred
  1. Master’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, and/or behavioral health related field.
  2. Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural.
  3. Experience working in clinical supervision.
  4. Knowledge of County and Agency policies and procedures.
Skills and abilities typically are acquired through a combination of experience and training. Experience may be substituted for education.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed inside but can be performed in varying temperatures. 
  • Work settings may include any of the Renew offices, schools, jails, individual’s homes or community locations. 
  • Employee may be exposed to odors or vapors in the office or other work settings. 
  • Work may be performed in other environments where the employee may be exposed to sub-sanitary environments, pets and passive smoking. 
  • Daily exposure to potential verbal and physical aggression with risk of personal safety issues.
  • Work duties may require the operation of vehicles, which involve the risks associated with driving including road traffic conditions and inclement weather. 
  • Work duties may require employee to transport clients in vehicles.
Physical Requirements
The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, write, hear, speak and lift up to 50lbs. of unequal weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception.
