About the Role

A GNC Engineer develops Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms and hardware for space missions, particularly for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO). Responsibilities include algorithm design and implementation, GNC hardware specification and integration, software architecture, and ensuring systems meet project requirements through collaboration with other disciplines. The role involves research into state-of-the-art GNC technologies, developing safety-critical solutions, and supporting the company's mission to create a sustainable space environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and validate algorithms for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO). 
  • Software Architecture: Support the development of the GNC software architecture to achieve an overall GNC software solution. 
  • Hardware Integration: Lead GNC hardware specification, integration (mechanical, electrical, and software), and testing. 
  • System Integration: Drive the integration of GNC algorithms, computer vision, and hardware for RPO missions. 
  • Research & Technology: Conduct research into state-of-the-art GNC algorithm designs and technologies relevant to RPO missions. 
  • System Design: Contribute to the overall system design for on-orbit servicing missions. 
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work with other engineering disciplines, especially flight dynamics and flight software, to develop safe GNC solutions. 
  • Configuration Management: Maintain logical and well-managed configuration control of GNC algorithms and systems. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related fields
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant technical experience

Required Skills:

  • A strong background in GNC systems, including hardware and algorithms.
  • Experience with Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO).
  • Familiarity with sensors relevant to RPO, such as electro-optical, infrared, and laser range finders.
  • Knowledge of computer vision and on-board computing platforms.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and tools.
  • Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and agile environment.
  • A degree in engineering or another STEM-related field.

 

Location: On-site in Denver, CO

Salary Range: $140,000-170,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
