Job Summary

Independently performs a wide range of general and preventive maintenance tasks with limited supervision. Responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of all grounds, exterior structures, and building systems. 

Essential Functions

•Cuts and maintains lawn and/or grass areas, trims and edges around walk, flower beds and walls using commercial mowers, trimmers and/or edgers. 

•Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, using proper tools. Water and maintains all landscape.

•Prunes shrubs, and trees, using commercial pruners and chainsaws and removes damaged limbs, leaves, and twigs from property. Rakes and bags leaves.

•Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides using hand or automatic sprayer.

•Cleans grounds with commercial backpack blower and removes litter and debris.

•Maintains drainage ditches and culverts, using tractor or skid steer.

•Performs minor repairs/paints on fences, gates, walks, etc.

•Performs basic routine maintenance and repairs on all equipment.

•Maintains tools and vehicle in good working condition.

•Rely on guidance from Groundskeeper Lead and assistance from supervisor for troubleshooting problems.

•Maintains open communication with lead, supervisor, co-workers and others outside the department.

•Performs de-icing program, on walkways, when needed.

•Maintains clean and orderly work areas. 

•Observes all safety regulations; participates in safety training; reports all unsafe conditions to the appropriate company personnel.

•Perform additional duties as assigned by Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

•High School Diploma or equivalent. 

•Must have valid State Driver's License and be able to meet James Avery’s driving requirements.

•Experience in grounds maintenance or related field. 

•Ability to follow detailed instructions.

•Good communication skills and ability to promote teamwork.

•Highly motivated, dependable self-starter.

•Strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to changing priorities.

•Ability to safely lift items up to 50lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance. 

•Ability to work various hours, weekends and holidays as business need requires.

•Ability to travel to various work locations as business need requires.

Preferred Qualifications

•Minimum 2 years’ experience in grounds maintenance or related field.
