Salary is determined on directly related experience supported by a service record or experience affidavit.  Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date.

 

Position Summary

The Instructional Aide – Computer Lab supports the effective operation of the school’s computer lab and assists students and teachers in integrating technology into the learning environment. Under the supervision of a certificated teacher or administrator, the aide helps students with computer-based learning activities, ensures proper use and care of equipment, and provides technical and instructional support during lab sessions. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, organized, patient, and passionate about fostering digital literacy among students.

2) School transcript, diploma or GED.

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
  • Experience working with children in any of the following: school, daycare, church, day camp, youth group, private school, licensed day-care center, or similar.
  • Valid educational aide certificate issued by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Satisfactory outcome of fingerprint background check.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited college/university.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills.
  • Ability to operate personal computer and educational software.
  • Ability to work with students and teachers effectively.
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with children.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment.

 Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

 

Instructional Support

  • Assist teachers and students with computers, printers, and instructional software.
  • Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement in instructional software.
  • Input data and maintain files on student progress and use of instructional programs.
  • Maintain computer lab in a neat and orderly manner including bulletin boards and displays.

 Technical Support

  • Perform computer backups on a regular basis.
  • Install a variety of computer programs following complex written instructions.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve routine problems, and arrange for maintenance and repair of computer equipment when needed.

 Student Management

  • Manage student behavior in the computer lab and help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from school.

 Other

  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist with office and workroom clerical duties as needed.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Make teachers aware of individual students' unique needs or problems.
  • Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard instructional equipment, including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Frequent walking, including frequent keyboarding/use of mouse; occasional reaching.

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. Occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds).

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.
