Company Description:

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

Job Description:

Want to be in your element working for fossil freedom using the power of the wind? As a Senior Electrical Engineer in Business Area Wind, you’ll design the low-voltage systems inside our transition pieces and follow them from manufacturing through to operation - turning robust engineering into reliable offshore megawatts. Join us and help accelerate a fossil-free future.

You will join the Foundations Technology Engineering department within Project Delivery & Engineering (BA Wind). The team is a senior, multidisciplinary unit covering electrical, structural, hydrodynamic, corrosion and bolted-joint expertise. You’ll be one of two electrical engineers in the group, working alongside a technical authority/lead, with close interfaces to design partners, manufacturers, and operations. The team is split across Copenhagen, Hamburg and Kolding, and collaborates tightly from early engineering through manufacturing follow-up and into operations

Be in your element with BA Wind

As part of BA Wind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

Qualifications:

Your role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer – Foundations (Low Voltage), you will own the low-voltage scope inside the foundation. You will produce and review LV designs and specifications, then follow them through manufacturing follow-up at suppliers to verify compliance and buildability. In operations, you will support troubleshooting and retrofit solutions when issues arise, ensuring safe, reliable functionality throughout the asset life. You will work closely with our technical authority and the broader foundations disciplines to deliver robust, standardised solutions that are practical for production and maintainable in service. From November, short business trips (approx. 2 days/week for a couple of months) to production sites are expected for factory oversight; occasional travel thereafter.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Engineer LV systems within the TP: panels, protection, lighting, power/utility outlets, earthing & bonding, cable trays/routing, cable sizing and ingress protection.
  • Define and manage interfaces to LiDAR, radar, SCADA and auxiliary systems; ensure clear ICDs and documentation (schematics, cable lists, BoMs).
  • Perform design reviews and vendor document evaluations; lead manufacturing follow-up/inspections to confirm “as-built” matches design intent.
  • Develop retrofit/obsolescence solutions and support failure analysis and fixes during operations.
  • Prepare and maintain standards, templates and lessons learned to drive repeatable, cost-effective designs.
  • Coordinate with structural, hydrodynamic, corrosion and bolting specialists to ensure integrated, buildable foundations solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant norms and good practice; contribute to HSE-by-design and total-cost-of-ownership thinking.

Your profile / who are you?
SYou’re a practical, detail-oriented electrical engineer who enjoys seeing designs through to reality at the factory—and who can roll up your sleeves in operations when something breaks. You communicate clearly across disciplines and suppliers, balance precision with pragmatism, and keep safety and maintainability front-of-mind. You’re collaborative, happy to seek and share sparring within and beyond your team, and comfortable travelling for short stints to production sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • 5+ years LV design/installation experience in industrial, marine or offshore environments (offshore wind foundations/TPs is a plus).
  • Solid competence in 400V LV: distribution/protection, earthing & bonding, lighting, cable routing/sizing, IP/ingress concepts.
  • Experience with SCADA/LiDAR interfaces and preparing technical documentation (schematics, cable schedules, ICDs, BoMs).
  • Familiar with relevant standards and good practice (e.g., IEC 61439/60364 or comparable).
  • Confident conducting vendor manufacturing follow-up, inspections and resolving non-conformities.
  • Fluent English (spoken/written); German or Danish is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel (from November: ~2 days/week for a couple of months, then occasionally).

We look forward to receiving your application!
