About the role
The End User Team is responsible for developing Operability Statements (OPSTATS), which define how CSC compartments will be utilized and how standard naval evolutions will be executed by the end user, the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). These deliverables are a key component in ensuring the CSC design is fit for purpose and will allow the design to be optimized for the RCN. Moreover, OPSTATS will assist the RCN integrate the CSC platform into the fleet and they are aiding the RCN to understand how they will be able to operationally conduct their missions aboard the CSC.
The candidate will participate in systems engineering activities including but not limited to:
- OPSTAT development
- Authoring of OPSTATS for RCN Evolutions
- Authoring of OPSTATS for CSC Platform Compartments
- Preliminary research on the OPSTAT topic.
- Coordinating with and establishing working relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) – internal to LMC and external, including working directly with ISI and RCN personnel.
- Leading multidisciplinary OPSTAT working groups.
- Assembling gathered information into OPSTATS.
- Gathering feedback through participation in document peer review processes.
- Submitting a final OPSTAT draft to the customer.
- Delivery and maintenance of documentation.
- OPSTAT Process Documentation and maintenance of the completed document across all facets of the CSC Platform.

What you bring to the role
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- 5 years of professional experience or 3 years experience with a Masters or equivalent experience/combined education will be considered.
- Ability to understand requirements and operational context as it relates to the End User community on a naval vessel
- Must be a team player with excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff, and the Subject Matter Expert community.
- Well organized with an aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment.
- Recent operational Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) experience is an asset.
Additional skills desired for the role
Familiar with DOORS and requirements management
Knowledge of recognized system engineering processes
Professional engineering license or willingness/ability to obtain P.Eng. is desirable for this role
Knowledge of the following naval compartments and evolutions:
- Conducting Navigation and Bridge Operations
- Aviation Complex
