About the Company
Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized microcontrollers, microprocessors, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed-signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity, and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). About the Team
Microchip FPGA Business unit offers FPGA device families suited for secure, power-efficient compute in a wide range of applications within Imaging, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Automation, Automotive, Aerospace and Defense, Wireline Access Networks & Cellular Infrastructure.
The FPGA solutions team builds high speed communication protocol based solutions for Microchip FPGA products. Team develops solutions for 5G (eCPRI), ONT (PON, OLT, SFP+), TSN (SyncE, PTP), Ethernet based solutions, Industrial automation (EtherCAT), Proprietary protocol (Litefast), DDR (DDR3, DDR4, LPDDR4, DDR5, LPDDR5) based solutions, and takes up new solutions development as industry needs evolve. FPGA solutions development includes defining architecture of the solutions, developing, and/or enhancing necessary IPs based on standard specs, writing RTL code, simulations and validating the solutions on hardware to meet compliance standards where applicable.
About the Position
This position is an excellent opportunity for someone willing to work on the latest technologies and play a critical role in providing a roadmap for FPGA solutions. The individual will work on developing high speed communication protocol based solutions development for the Microchip FPGA products. The individual must have strong RTL (VHDL/Verilog) coding skills, digital design concepts and system level understanding. In addition, the individual must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand, multiple-deadline driven environment.

Responsibilities
- Developing high speed communication protocol based solutions.
- Developing IPs for high speed protocols such as Ethernet, PON, OTN
- Implementing RTL design, coding, and taking it through industry-standard design flows.
- Creating the test bench architecture and test plan for functional verification of the IPs.
- Executing the FPGA design flow, setting timing constraints, and fixing timing issues.
- Integrating existing IPs into the overall system design to develop solutions and validate them on hardware kits.
- Debugging the system using Microchip debugging tools and testing equipment.
- Adhering to the quality standards and guidelines.
- Willing to take ownership of the complete system development cycle.
- Establishing schedules and managing multiple project deadlines.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 9+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient coding skills in HDL languages such as Verilog or VHDL
- Experience in digital circuit designing
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience working on Transceiver based designs
- Ability to follow and enforce quality standards and guidelines
- Experience in PON technology will be a plus
- Experience in Python, TCL/TK and C/C++ is a plus
- Ability to use standard lab equipment, including Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, and other measuring equipment
- Strong verbal/written communication with global teams
- Strong organizational skills: project management and status reporting
- Experience working on processor based FPGAs
