Description

 Great Western Dining Service is looking for a reliable, motivated Cook to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a commercial kitchen environment without the late nights or weekend shifts that come with restaurant work.

What You’ll Do
As a Cook, you’ll be responsible for preparing and serving meals in a buffet-style, bulk service setting for our clients. Unlike restaurant work, this role focuses on three short but fast paced meal services, monday through thursday and two on friday. We are seeking someone reliable with high attention to detail who can take and follow instructions as well as work independantly. Our focus is high-quality production and presentation across larger volumes in excess of 120 meals per service. 

Daily tasks include:

  • Setting up and stocking workstations with ingredients, tools, and equipment needed for service
  • Preparing ingredients (washing, chopping, peeling, slicing, portioning) for recipes and service
  • Cooking and finishing menu items according to chef directed recipes and production sheets
  • Preparing bulk items such as proteins, starches, vegetables, soups, and sauces for meal periods
  • Ensuring food is properly seasoned, cooked to temperature, and attractively presented on the service line
  • Monitoring food quality and replenishing buffet pans and service areas during meal periods
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, following all sanitation and HACCP procedures
  • Properly storing and labeling food products to ensure freshness and safety
  • Collaborating with the culinary team to meet timelines and guest expectations

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred, but our Chef is willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and bulk food production
  • Ability to follow recipes, production guides, and food safety procedures
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and multi-tasking skills
  • Dependable and detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and consistency

Schedule & Pay

  • No nights or weekends — this position offers a consistent, work-life–friendly schedule
  • Pay is negotiable and dependent on experience

Physical requirements of the job:

  • Continuous standing/walking and other means of mobility up to 8 hours a day
  •  Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds
