GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An Entry level technician position involving general maintenance and preventive maintenance activities under minimal direct supervision intended to keep the facility and electrical distribution systems within operational specifications and safe. This position is part of a 24 hour/7 day operation and may require assignment to a regular off shift and weekends schedule.
KEY DUTIES:
Perform PM’s
Follow Written Preventative Maintenance Procedures
Accurately complete maintenance paperwork, including work orders and logbooks.
Review and update maintenance procedures based on field experience.
Review and update drawings to reflect as built conditions.
Identify opportunities for improving PM program.
Recommend changes to PM program based on experience with equipment and analysis of historical data.
Accept ownership of selected equipment and serve as point person for repairs/PM.
Identify critical spare parts based on field experience.
Execute Repairs
Respond to customer requests and/or alarm conditions.
Assess breakdowns, systematically identify problems, and restore to operation.
Accurately document repair activities.
Support Quality Assurance investigations of breakdowns.
Operate Site Utility Systems
Monitor site (utility power, electrical distribution system, motor control center, etc).
Respond to out of range conditions or trends.
Troubleshoot issues that arise.
Contractor Support
Supervise contractors performing tasks within building.
Ensure that contractor employees follow Alkermes safety and cGMP standards.
Oversee technical quality of work performed.
Lead Small Projects
Identify facility/utility improvement projects, develop scope and estimates, and manage small (<$5K) projects to completion.
Contribute to facility support activities such as office moves, area reconfiguration, painting, etc.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Technical knowledge
Good working knowledge of Electrical Test Equipment (multi-meters, Meggers, Circuit Testers, etc.)
Understanding of PLC controls, wiring and terminations.
Understanding of Fire Alarm Systems, (License a plus)
Understanding of Motor Control Centers wiring and functions.
Understanding of power distributions 480v and below.
Understanding of rotating machinery (pumps, fans, blowers).
Understanding of automation systems.
Understanding of engineering principles as they apply to facility and production equipment.
Understanding of Access control and interlock systems
Ability to read P&ID’s and other engineering documents
Details oriented
Trouble Shooting
Hands-on ability to isolate problems and identify root cause of issues.
Able to lift/move 40 lbs overhead.
Communication
Ability to clearly describe technical issues.
Writing Skills
Ability to clearly and neatly document work performed.
Ability to revise maintenance procedures that clearly define required tasks.
Ability to proofread other’s work for accuracy.
Regulatory
Understanding of OSHA safe work practices.
Understanding of cGMP, GDP, and FDA requirements as they apply to maintenance.
Pharmaceutical Operations
Pharmaceutical manufacturing technology (preferably Aseptic) including fillers, washers, autoclaves, HEPA filters, etc.
Computer Systems
Basic knowledge of Process Control and Instrumentation Systems.
Basic knowledge of typical office automation software suite.

Required Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years of maintenance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree or trade school a plus.
- Experience in a regulated industry a plus.
- Basic understanding of cGMP, GDP, and FDA requirements as they apply to maintenance a plus.
- Pharmaceutical Operations a plus
Technician II
Required Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five to ten years of maintenance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree or trade school a plus.
- Experience in a regulated industry a plus.
- Basic understanding of cGMP, GDP, and FDA requirements as they apply to maintenance a plus.
- Three to seven years experience in pharmaceutical industry a plus
Technician III
Required Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Seven plus years of maintenance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree or trade school a plus.
