This position is primarily responsible for collecting soiled linens, sorting them, and laundering them. It also assists in the finishing room to fold, sort, and deliver linens to linen closets in each neighborhood. The position keeps all linen closets orderly and is responsible for keeping the laundry/finishing rooms clean and neat. The employee also brings disposable containers from all neighborhoods daily.


Based on previous experiences, the starting base rate of pay for a laundry technician is $15.00 - $17.79 per hour.

Work Schedule:

  • 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday-Friday and every third Saturday 6am - 10am (time off will be provided when scheduled to work Saturday)
  • 80 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)


Requirements

  • Safely operate all laundry equipment, washers, dryers, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Perform all duties in laundry and finishing services.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the basics of the English language; carry out oral and written assignments.
  • Physical demands: must be able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, lift, carry, or handle light weight of up to 25 lbs. (materials or equipment) frequently. Occasional physical effort with medium objects (25-60 lbs.) and heavy objects (over 60 lbs.). Works in reaching or strained position for about half of day.
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in an environment with residents.
  • Pleasant personality, enjoy working with people, have good manners, and interact tactfully with others.
  • Self-motivated; perform duties listed in the job description with limited supervision.
  • Schedule time wisely and accommodate changes.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Fast learner.
  • Ability to work quickly and carefully in a safe manner, and motivate others to do the same.
  • Must report to work in uniform.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
