Are you a strategic leader with deep expertise in personal lines insurance? We’re seeking a dynamic Director, State Management to lead our Auto and Homeowner product portfolio in Massachusetts. This high-impact role will shape product strategy, drive innovation, and ensure regulatory excellence while collaborating across departments to deliver profitable growth and exceptional customer value.

 

You’ll be at the forefront of product development, pricing strategy, and market execution partnering with IT, Marketing, Underwriting, Claims, and external vendors to bring best-in-class solutions to market. Key Responsibilities

 

  • Strategic Leadership: Chair cross-functional strategy committees to define and achieve profit and growth objectives across Auto and Home lines.
  • Product Innovation & Execution: Lead product enhancements, rate and rule revisions, and ensure seamless execution with IT and third-party vendors.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate and optimize product offerings.
  • Regulatory Excellence: Manage all aspects of regulatory filings and maintain strong relationships with the Department of Insurance.
  • Performance Management: Oversee P&L performance, develop KPIs, and implement strategies to improve conversion, retention, and loss ratios.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Underwriting, Claims, and Actuarial to align product strategy with business goals.
  • Talent & Team Development: Lead departmental operations including hiring, performance reviews, and team growth.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry conferences and contribute to thought leadership in personal lines insurance.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • 9+ years of experience in personal lines insurance, with a strong focus on Auto and Home products—Massachusetts market experience highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership in product strategy, pricing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, including proficiency in SQL and product performance analysis.
  • Deep understanding of the customer lifecycle, underwriting principles, and product analytics.
  • Expereince leading cross-functional projects
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Actuarial experience is a plus but not required.
