POSITION: Head Coach - Women's Flag Football
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Athletics
SUPERVISES: Part time Assistant Coaches & Graduate Assistants
CLASSIFICATION: Part time (12-month, stipend)
BASIC FUNCTION:
The head coach is responsible for directing and administrating all aspects of the women's flag football program including coaching, recruitment, and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- One to three years of coaching experience required.
- Bachelor's degree desired.
- Budgeting, planning and computer skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge of Women's Flag Football through excellence in coaching.
- In consultation with the Vice President for Athletics:
- Select, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches and graduate assistants.
- Manage sport expenses and budget.
- Market and promote sport program.
- Participate in all athletic department major fundraising efforts.
- Develop a sport schedule.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Game Environment and Community Engagement initiatives within the athletics department.
- Responsible for adhering to and documenting compliance with the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, Mountain East Conference and the NCAA; responsible for the orientation of student-athletes to these guidelines.
- Oversee the conduct and discipline of student-athletes.
- Plan and implement all practices and games.
- Meet team specific annual recruitment goal of student-athletes.
- Supervise pre-season and post-season conditioning in coordination with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Situation appropriate professional attire required at all times.
- Abide by all compliance and regulatory expectations of the department, including but not limited to:
- Point Park Athletic compliance.
- NCAA Division II & Conference bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Title IX Regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for knowledge and implementation of NCAA rules and regulations in the areas of amateurism, eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, playing and practice seasons, and awards and benefits. Coaches are expected to fully cooperate and participate in compliance related policies and procedures, within the institution and NCAA guidelines. The Head Coach's responsibilities include:
- Attend and participate in all staff and rules education meetings.
- Review NCAA rules with student-athletes when necessary and reinforce the importance of compliance.
- Facilitate the provision of all information necessary to determine prospective student-athlete eligibility.
- Monitor the permissible number of contacts and evaluations utilized.
- Provide complete and accurate expense reports.
- Provide complete and accurate required information for all official visits.
- Declare playing and practice seasons and submit to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance for review and approval.
- Ensure team's compliance with NCAA rules related to playing and practice seasons including weekly athletically-related activity (CARA) logs.
- In coordination with the Vice President for Athletics, monitor the scheduling process, verifying that the schedule meets scheduling requirements and missed class time policies.
- Educate student-athletes regarding NCAA regulations governing employment.
- Annually complete and pass the NCAA Coaches Learning Modules.
- Follow the established process for renewal and non-renewal of athletically-related Financial Aid.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding uniform logos, complimentary tickets and summer camps.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Physically active sporting environment, with frequent high intensity activity with coaching.
- Office work and a significant amount of event planning and coordination.
- Moderate activity that may include ability lifting and pushing.
- Frequent evening and weekend hours.
