Duties
Operate and maintain Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewage Treatment Plant and potable Water Treatment Plant.,Perform operator maintenance on all equipment utilized in the Treatment Plants.,Utilize established processes to execute the necessary wastewater treatment functions.,Check equipment for proper operation, diagnose and correct malfunctioning equipment to ensure effective and efficient wastewater treatment practices.,Utilize operator manuals, regulations and established practices to effectively manage all systems.,Make scheduled equipment checks and respond to warning signals for a variety of alarm systems in the plant.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include operating and maintaining sewage treatment facility equipment and processes. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The work involves considerable walking, standing on concrete floors, etc. Light to moderate effort is required to turn valves and controls. Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and heavier weights with assistance from other workers or lifting devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Perform Wastewater and Water Treatment duties both indoors and outdoors; subject to prevailing weather conditions. Exposure to constant noise, rotating machinery, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes in the work area. Subject to cuts/abrasions from the tools and equipment, as well as, chemical burns. Work may be performed on catwalks and ladders. You are required to follow prescribed safety practices and to wear appropriate safety equipment, e.g. gloves, protective clothing, etc. Subject position is exposed to chemicals and compounds some of which may be hazardous.
