Position Summary
This position investigates, evaluates and implements processes to improve production efficiencies, and works with existing and new vendors to install or incorporate new machines/equipment for process improvement.  The right candidate will also examine current layouts and identify ways to maximize floor space usage.  In addition, this individual will devise efficient and ergonomic methods to best utilize workers, machines, materials and information to optimize product build. 

Essential Functions
  • Determine how to effectively manufacture current product assemblies to maximum output with minimal defects.
  • Work with internal customers and management to develop and maintain accurate labor standards for production. 
  • Collaborate with QA to develop and enact quality control procedures that resolve production problems and customer complaints/issues.
  • Support Design Engineering in developing, testing, and validating new product releases.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.
  • Facilitate communication across multiple departments, including shop floor personnel, QA, Supply Chain, Design and Application Engineering, Customer Service, Accounting and the Executive Management Team.
  • Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning to ensure that products meet quality standards.
  • Investigate and confer with customers about product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Project Management and Engineering skills required.
  • Utilize Lean principles to promote waste reduction, increase built-in quality to product builds, and improve standardization throughout the facility.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to resolve process and system issues.
  • Must be a self-starter that actively looks fr opportunities to improve the business.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, MS Power Point required.
  • Knowledge of Auto-CAD / Solidworks a plus.
  • Knowledge of an ERP / SAP system a plus.
  • High level of professional communication (written and verbal) skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required.
  • Strong ability to put strategies into action.
  • Must be energetic, collaborative, and challenged by opportunities to develop standards and processes.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to manage time and build work relationships.
  • Must work well both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and in adherence to tight deadlines.
Education, Training, Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-3 years of related Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience working on an Engineering team in a manufacturing environment preferred.
