The Fitness Manager is responsible for managing onsite fitness facility operations and programs according to the company’s vision, values, and strategic objectives at The Stayton retirement community in Fort Worth, TX. The Fitness Manager provides positive leadership in areas of customer service, staff management, fitness instruction, group exercise classes, and client relations while overseeing the operations and financial management of the client’s facility.


Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM 

In-Person, No Remote Work

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise teammates at The Stayton fitness facility
  • Support team success by following organizational policies and applicable laws
  • Interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new teammates
  • Providing training, guidance, and daily direction
  • Assigning work and supporting team workflow
  • Recognizing and rewarding strong performance
  • Coaching teammates and addressing concerns with HR support
  • Resolving complaints and promoting a positive work environment


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong, professional relationship with client liaison and leadership to continually represent Cooper core values.
  • Oversee all general onsite fitness facility operations and financial accountability as assigned, e.g., facility operations budget, annual facility operations planning process, onsite technology system oversight, facility marketing and communications, program planning and implementation.
  • Meet bi-weekly with Fitness Accounts Director to ensure KPI's are measured, and the facility is meeting or exceeding program and budgetary expectations.
  • Provide monthly and semi-annual key fitness facility metrics, providing strategic insights into program and participation trends, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Assists with short-term and long-term strategic planning of the fitness facility with respect to staffing, programming, systems, facilities, equipment, and other facility-related areas.
  • Provides exceptional customer service with a positive attitude and ensures Cooper customer service standards and expectations are met.
  • Oversee planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of Cooper Quest member engagement programs.
  • Provide strong leadership for Cooper Teammates with a focus on training and skill development.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and represent a strong team approach with an emphasis on developing a healthy work culture.
  • Perform daily facility walkthroughs to ensure that all areas of responsibility are clean and organized; if deficient, take necessary actions to improve.
  • Submit monthly client invoice information according to established timelines for review and approval.
  • Participate with Cooper and client marketing departments to support facility and program communication content, standards, and timelines.
  • Participate with Cooper and other approved resources to leverage Cooper educational content in program design, facility promotions, and other program campaigns.
  • Participate with Cooper and client technology departments to manage facility technology systems and requirements.
  • Provide oversight and establish strong relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Assume responsibility and take appropriate action in the event of an emergency (e.g., medical incident, fire alarm, etc.) within the fitness facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education / Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field Common fields include Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Health Promotion. 
  • Professional fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, Cooper, NASM or similar)
  • CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
  • 2+ Years of Experience Preferably in senior wellness, personal training, or group fitness instruction.
  • Knowledge of Age-Related Conditions Understanding arthritis, osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, and mobility limitations are key.
  • Adaptability and Empathy Required understanding of modifying exercises and communicate clearly with individuals who may have cognitive or physical impairments.

  • Program Development Ability to design engaging fitness programs including aquatic therapy, chair yoga, balance training, and strength conditioning.

  • Holistic Wellness Approach Knowledge of integrating physical, mental, and nutritional wellness into the programs.
