The Client Accounting Manager plays a critical role in delivering high-quality financial management and accounting services to Davies’ client base. This position is responsible for overseeing core accounting, payroll, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting functions, while managing a team of Accounting Coordinators. The role requires a blend of technical accounting expertise, leadership, and client-facing communication, serving as a trusted financial advisor. 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Payroll: Oversee payroll, premium billing, vendor management, administrative checks,
and year-end close in coordination with auditors and state filings.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly/quarterly financial statements, reconcile accounts, and analyze budget-to-actual performance.

Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure timely state filings, statutory reports, and provide ongoing support to
auditors and regulators.

Cash & Treasury Management: Forecast and manage cash flow, oversee transfers, and maintain
fiduciary control of banking access.

General Ledger Oversight: Maintain Sage accounting system, including reconciliations, journal entries,
accruals, and reinsurance/premium adjustments.

Leadership & Team Management: Supervise, train, and develop Accounting Coordinators, ensuring
quality, accuracy, and excellent client service.

Operational Support: Review/approve administrative transactions, coordinate payroll/benefits/tax filings, and support process and system improvements.

Skills, knowledge & expertise

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and statutory reporting. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex financials for boards and clients. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage accounting systems preferred. 
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; equivalent experience will be considered  
  • CPA and prior industry experience preferred, not required.  
  • At least 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility 
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance  
  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance, risk pools, or related industries a plus
