Summary of Position
The Tooling Engineer supports production molding by analyzing tooling and molded part issues, then driving corrective actions through collaboration with external mold vendors. This role manages the tooling lifecycle, from generating RFQs for repairs and spare parts to placing and tracking orders. The Tooling Engineer ensures tooling solutions meet production requirements, delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)

  • Analyze molded part non-conformities and propose effective tooling solutions.
  • Initiate and drive RFQs for tooling purchases, repair processes, and spare part orders.
  • Place purchase orders and track delivery of all purchases related to tooling projects.
  • Communicate with internal teams and approved vendors to develop project schedules and budgets.
  • Structure projects by defining clear objectives, gathering requirements, and analyzing vendor workload for capacity and capability.
  • Track vendor tooling projects to manage resources, set priorities, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal customers, vendors, and supply chain to establish priorities, schedules, status updates, and inventory information.
  • Analyze First Article Inspection and production data to confirm capable tooling solutions.
  • Provide weekly status reports covering tooling progress, qualification scheduling, tool transfers, and repair updates.
     


 

Requirements

 Education and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (1–2 years of relevant experience).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly collaborative and team-focused approach
