Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to work with the people we support as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). We are hiring for multiple DSP positions in Fremont and Blair area!
What You’ll Do: In general you will work directly with people with developmental disabilities assisting and supporting them with day to day living activities.
Hiring for Multiple DSP Positions:
- Day Center DSP, you will support and assist individuals with developmental disabilities with planned group-based or individual-focused activities at the day center and in community settings.
- Independent Living Support DSP, you will support and assist individuals with developmental disabilities, providing compassionate and respectful assistance to help them live as independently as possible. You must display a strong sense of professionalism as you may be going into other people’s homes in this position depending on the person's needs.
- Intermittent Services DSP, you will support and assist individuals with developmental disabilities with day to day living activities intermittently. You will support individuals with various activities in a home environment and in community settings. You must display a strong sense of professionalism as you may be going into other people’s homes in this position depending on the person's needs.
- Job Coach DSP, you will support and assist individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of job settings to ensure they have meaningful employment. As a Job Coach you will assist individuals on the job and communicate with employers in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities for all DSP positions:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation, based on the individual’s level of need.
- Support the individual in developing and maintaining skills, which could include money management, household chores, self-advocacy, and communication. Based on individual's needs, goals, and support plan.
- Implement goals and objectives from the individual’s person-centered support plan and document progress as required.
- Monitor and promote the individual’s health and well-being while following safety protocols. Ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
- Encourage social interaction and community inclusion through meaningful activities and relationship building.
- This position requires you to transport individuals in a motor vehicle.
Shifts Needed:
- Days or Evenings with every other weekend required.
Shift Hours:
- Days 7a-3p or 8a-4p
- Evenings 3p-11p
- Flexible scheduling is available as some shift hours may vary depending upon the individual's needs.
Skillset Needed for the Job: Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Must be able to pass all background checks. Experience not required- we will train you!
Pay: $17 per hour is starting pay. We pay more for experience and if you have a CNA license. Incentives also available. We also offer CEU's for CNA's to maintain an active license while doing work that is meaningful and life transforming as a DSP!
