POSITION: Driver for Seniors
JOB CLASS/GRADE: Assistant/Grade 9
WAGE: $21.63 per hour up to 30 hours per week

Program Summary
Enhance Equity program is to provide services that will assist clients in remaining as independent as possible, to delay or prevent out-of-home placement, and support client self-determination.
Position Summary
Drivers provide transportation services using agency owned vehicles for seniors, 60 years of age and older living in Multnomah County. The Driver is responsible for providing transportation for seniors to attend IRCO congregate meals three times per week. Occasionally transport clients to field trips and other activities organized by Senior services. Works in a multi-cultural environment.
Essential Functions
- Provide transportation for seniors from various locations to and from IRCO main office and Africa House
- Operate IRCO passenger van or bus (up to 15 people) safely and responsibly
- Transport seniors according to assigned schedules
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips, reporting any maintenance issues to Operation Manager
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and IRCO policies
- Work closely with Senior program staff and volunteers to coordinate activities/ pick up and drop off times
Secondary Functions
- Ability to provide great customer service
- Ability to handle stress in professional matters
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the availability of clients
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School or GED
- Minimum 3+ years of driving experience (preferably transporting passengers in a van or bus)
- Strong communication skills,
Physical, Mental, & Environmental Requirements
- Positions at this level require moderate physical effort and manual labor such as carrying constant movement, frequent lifting of light items, and some lifting of moderately heavy objects.
- Work under close supervision
- There is some personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are somewhat uncomfortable due to varying work environments; inclement weather; or individuals of unpredictable, possibly harmful intent
- The work schedule occasionally fluctuates based on organization or customer needs. This fluctuation may occur with or without prior notice
Supervisory Responsibilities
Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions, or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers.
